Tucson ranks High on ‘Best City for Recreation’ List

Americans are fond of the outdoors, after all, and it’s evident in the amount of greenbacks they invest on green space. Neighborhood parks are instrumental to building community cohesion, boosting property values, improving public health and reducing pollution.

Tucson ranks No. 11 on WalletHub’s list of “2015’s Best and Worst Cities for Recreation.” The list of 100 cities highlights the benefits of public spaces and recreational activities using 27 key metrics, including basic costs, quality of parks, accessibility of entertainment and recreational facilities, and climate. Tucson ranked 25th for entertainment and recreational facilities, 32nd for costs, 59th for quality of parks, and 16th for climate.

Only one other Arizona city beat out Tucson for ‘best city for recreation’, according to a new study from WalletHub. Scottsdale came in #3 and Tucson ranked #11 on the list of 100 cities in the U.S. that were ‘Best and Worst Cities for recreation’.

WalletHub compared the 100 largest U.S. cities to highlight the benefits of public spaces and recreational activities to consumers and the local economy, using 27 key metrics including basic costs, the quality of parks, the accessibility of entertainment and recreational facilities as well as the climate.

Tucson ranked #25 for Entertainment & recreational facilities; #32 for costs; #59 for quality of parks and #16 for climate.
